A dog owner and her dog were mauled in a Hitchin attack which saw police launch an appeal for information.
Angus – a border terrier – and his owner were attacked by a bulldog on Oughtonhead Common last Monday around 4.40pm.
The woman received deep wounds to her wrist and right thigh that required hospital treatment – and is still receiving treatment.
Angus also received serious neck injuries which required surgery. Border terriers are generally very friendly and rarely aggressive.
Their intelligence and eagerness to please also sees them used as therapy dogs, and they are known to be incredibly loyal.
An American Bulldog called Marley was seized under the Dangerous Dogs Act, with the animal currently being kept in kennels.
PC Josh Wilson, who is investigating, said: “I am appealing for anyone who saw the incident to contact me on 101 quoting crime reference G1/17/1420.”
