There will be a chance to see a creative multimedia project performed by parents and their children from across the county at Stevenage Museum on Thursday.

As part of the UK-wide Museums at Night biannual festival, the museum in St George’s Way will be the setting for a free Museums in Motion event featuring dance, film and technology.

The performance explores the internal mechanisms of mobile technology, from apps and functions to the way we interact with the world through our phones.

Under the artistic direction of dedicated dance companies BEEE Creative and makeAMPLIFY, the performance is the culmination of work achieved by Hertfordshire people who have taken the role of dancers, directors, filmmakers and musicians.

Geraldine Strohm, from Stevenage, has participated in Museums in Motion with her nine-year-old daughter Lily and is looking forward to the performance.

She said: “Lily and I have really enjoyed Museums in Motion, and can’t wait to present our work to an audience on Thursday.

“This is such an unusual experience, and I would urge people to come along to the performance because it will be the culmination of a truly fascinating creative process.

“We’ve loved every minute. Nowhere else would mum and daughter have the opportunity to work together on such a creative project – mixing dance, movement, drama, filming and more – and then to be able to perform it together, sharing it with friends at Stevenage Museum, the base for so many fun activities.”

Museums in Motion at the Stevenage Museum takes place on Thursday, October 26, with performances at 5.30pm and 6.30pm. While attendance is free, booking is advisable.
