A man has been handed a suspended jail sentence after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a teenage girl in Stevenage.
Wayne Butterfield, of Church Street in Dunstable, appeared at St Albans Crown Court for sentencing on Friday after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 16 in June this year.
Judge Marie Catterson sentenced the 51-year-old to six months in prison, suspended for two years, and ordered him to complete 250 hours of unpaid community work.
Butterfield had denied the charge before being found guilty by Stevenage magistrates on October 6.
Judge Catterson ordered him to sign the Sex Offenders Register, imposed a five-year restraining order, and ordered him to complete a 40-day rehabilitation activity requirement.
