A young girl from Henlow has been busy raising cash for charity, which will help her gain her school colours.
Georgina Kelly, who attends Henlow Church of England Academy, secured £600 for Help for Heroes by selling Advent calendars and Christmas wreaths on Facebook and outside The Engineers Arms and The Crown pubs in the village.
The 12-year-old will have her final sale on Wednesday in the school playground.
Her mum Bev, who works at Fairfield Park Lower School, told the Comet: “Georgina has been learning a lot about First World War and it has certainly struck a chord with her.
“She hates war and thinks about the soldiers who can come back to very little support.
“She has absolutely loved fundraising – the amount she raised has been a great surprise to her .
“We are are extremely proud of her, we are just brimming with pride. It is a wonderful achievement.”
