A man pulled out a knife at a Stevenage pub on Monday night and cut someone across the arm after an argument – and detectives have now appealed for witnesses.

The assault happened at about 11.25pm on Monday, at the Almond Tree pub in Lonsdale Road.

The injured man was treated at the town’s Lister Hospital for a cut to his arm, and has since been released. Officers are looking to trace the other man, who is not known to the victim.

Det Sgt Bianca Broadbent said: “We believe the offender frequents the pub regularly and we are currently carrying out enquiries to locate him. If you were in the pub at the time or have any information which could help our investigation we would like to speak to you.

“Thankfully the victim was not seriously hurt, but it could have easily have been a different story. Knife crime will not be tolerated in Stevenage and we want to trace the offender as soon as possible.”

Sue Wayman, one of the pub’s managers, told the Comet the offender had not been seen at the Almond Tree before and was therefore not a regular.

She added that the incident had happened outside the pub, and that the pub’s management had supported the victim and police investigation.
