Independent Potton councillor Adam Zerny is delighted by the decision to reject a new planning application for more homes in town.
Central Bedfordshire Council opposed a plan for 60 new houses in Sandy Road, to the south and west of the cemetery.
Mr Zerny – who also opposed the application – said: “I am pleased Central Beds has opposed this application.
“Potton has quite enough housing already on the way without any more large developments being built in the countryside.”
In January, despite the council’s local plan considering the land unsuitable for development, an application was still put forward by a developer.
The new dwellings were refused CBC as they believed it would result in “significant harm to the character and appearance of the site, surroundings and setting of Potton and would not result in net gains for ecology.”
