The longest-serving headteacher in Stevenage has retired after 30 years at the helm.
Judith Moore was appointed head of Bedwell Primary School in April 1988.
Teacher Dean Humber said: “She soon turned around the fortunes of this struggling school.
“She has seen the school grow and develop into a creative, forward-thinking and vibrant school that is at the heart of the community.
“Mrs Moore is highly respected in the community and the school and has become a focal point for many children and families.
“Over the years she has seen thousands of children though the school - often generations of the same family passing through the doors, eager for their children to have the same experience as they did.
“Staff and pupils had a few surprises up their sleeves so she went out with a bang.
“We all want her to know just how much she means to us all. We love her dearly. She’s a true inspiration.”
