A 51-year-old from Stevenage has been given a community order after drink driving in Welwyn Garden City.

Anthony Nutley admitted being over the limit while driving a Mazda 6 on the A1000 Bessemer Road on July 28.

He had 112 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Nutley, of Nodes Drive, appeared at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on August 28.

He was given a community order and must carry out 100 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months.

Nutley was also ordered to pay victim services £85 and £85 court costs.

Disqualification was obligatory for the offence and he has been banned from driving for 26 months.

His ban will be reduced by 26 weeks if he takes part in a course approved of by the Secretary of State.

Nutley also admitted using the Mazda when there was no test certificate in place for the vehicle.

There was no separate penalty for this offence.
