Children at a David Lloyd’s kids’ club in Stevenage have filled 50 shoeboxes with small gifts to give to people less fortunate this Christmas.
As part of Operation Christmas Child run by the charity Samaritan’s Purse, the DL Kids members decorated the shoeboxes during Let’s Create classes, and staff and gym members donated lots of gifts to fill them.
David Lloyd’s family activity coordinator Lian McTigue said: “It really has been a club spirit and we managed 50 shoeboxes in total, to make 50 children smile this Christmas.
“Rachel Logan, our group exercise coordinator, organised an indoor cycling challenge, riding the equivalent of London to Brighton in three hours, with our instructor Steve Jones leading 15 people to completing the full 54 miles, and many others taking part throughout the day, to raise over £200 to fund the shipping costs for the shoeboxes to be sent.”
