A man admitted repeatedly assaulting a woman, and on one occasion wounding another woman, when he appeared in court on Friday last week.

Billy Patrick Smith, of Sish Lane in Stevenage, pleaded guilty to beating a woman in Stevenage on June 22, and deliberately destroying a communal doorway.

When the 21-year-old appeared at West and Central Hertfordshire Magistrates' Court - sitting at Hatfield Magistrates' Court - he also admitted assaulting the same woman in Stevenage on two consecutive days in July, causing her actual bodily harm, and maliciously wounding another woman in Watford on August 28.

Smith admitted a racially-aggravated offence of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards a police officer in Hatfield on August 28, causing harassment, alarm or distress.

He will be sentenced at St Albans Crown Court on September 20.
