North Herts District Council has suspended garden and food waste collections, but Stevenage Borough Council is not following suit.

Councillor John Gardner, SBC’s executive member for environment, said: “More people are at home, so crews will carry out collections on Good Friday to help stay on top of collections.

“At the moment we have enough members of staff to ensure brown bin collections continue. This situation will continually be reviewed.

“We are immensely proud of the commitment shown by our staff and it is fantastic their efforts haven’t gone unnoticed. Kind notes and positive words are having a great effect on morale.”

Collections will run a day late the week of April 13 due to Easter Monday.
