Fancy a trip down memory lane? Of course you do!

Old footage online offers a window into Letchworth's past and - as one would expect - while the cars and hairstyles have certainly changed, many sites in our town look rather familiar.

The 1953 footage, uploaded by REMINISCE yesterday's Britain, begins around Sollershot East - and captures various shots of the town centre and other area five decades on from Letchworth's creation.

Previously a rural village, development on Letchworth Garden City started in 1903 - the result of Ebenezer Howard's vision to combine the best of town and country living.

Letchworth Heritage Foundation maintains and manages the garden city estate - and say that the "environment and heritage of the garden city is an integral part of what makes Letchworth Garden City a unique place to live."

"We work closely with businesses, community organisations and residents to maintain the estate and to ensure continues to be an excellent place to live, work and visit."
