The highest priced streets with a Hitchin postcode have been revealed, and they all average in excess of £1m.
Using Land Registry data for the five years to June 2021 – excluding addresses with fewer than three transactions – these are the most expensive parts of Hitchin to call home...
1. Priory Way
Hitchin's most expensive street is a sleepy suburban idyll on the town's southern fringes.
There were seven transactions here in the five years to June 2021, with an average price of £1,154,857, the most recent being in 2020, when a four-bed detached house with pool changed hands for £1.6m.
2. Newlands Lane
Located on the opposite side of Gosmore Road to Priory Walk, Newlands Lane has a more rural feel than its marginally more expensive neighbour.
Homes here are no less impressive, however: the average price from seven transactions was £1,111,929, with the biggest hitter selling for £1,695,000 in 2019.
3. Kimpton Bottom
Kimpton Bottom may be between Harpenden and Kimpton, but its SG4 postcode means it falls into our list of Hitchin's finest.
While its average price from four transactions is £1,093,125, this rural hotspot has seen a couple of £2m-plus sales here over the years, including a nine-bed home that sold for £2.25m in 2010.
4. Back Lane
Connecting the hamlet of Ley Green with the village of Preston, Back lane is the fourth most expensive road with a Hitchin postcode.
With an average sale price of £1,046,667 from three transactions, this country location is beyond the reach of many.
5. Burton Gardens
The only Hitchin town centre address on the list, Burton Gardens is a collection of five new build houses.
The average price on the street during the five years to June 2021 was £1,005,000, with the most expensive (£1.8m) sale taking place in 2017.
