Magpas Air Ambulance provides pre-hospital emergency care, in the air or on land, in Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and across the East of England.

The charity operates 24/7 and answers four calls a day for help, treating around 900 patients in life-threatening emergencies every year.

The donation will go towards keeping the Magpas Air Ambulance flying, the rapid response vehicles on the ground and the advanced doctors and critical care paramedics saving lives across the region.

Gareth Davies, site leader at Amazon in Peterborough, said: “We are delighted to be able to support the Magpas team with this donation.

"On behalf of everyone here at Amazon in Peterborough, I’d like to thank the staff and volunteers for their frontline services and we hope this donation gives the charity a boost.”

Emma Sanders, Magpas Air Ambulance’s community and events officer, said: “On behalf of Magpas, I’d like to thank Gareth and the team for choosing us for this support.

"It hasn’t been an easy year for fundraising and we really appreciate this contribution from Amazon.”

Community donations are one of a number of ways in which Amazon is supporting communities across the UK during the pandemic.

The company is providing disadvantaged students with online science, technology, engineering and mathematics courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast to deliver more than four million healthy breakfasts to families around the UK.
