A MAN was seriously assaulted outside a busy pub in Stevenage on Saturday night.

Police say someone must have witnessed it and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

It happened at around 10.15pm outside the Vincent Bar in The Hyde.

A 32-year-old man from Stevenage was inside the pub but was pulled outside and assaulted. He received serious injuries to his head and was taken to Lister Hospital for treatment. He went home the following morning.

The suspect is described as white, aged between 20 and 25, around 6ft tall, with short blonde spiked hair. He was described as wearing white trainers, dark jeans and a cream coloured jacket.

Investigating officer Dc Will Ainsworth said: "We're treating this assault as GBH due to the seriousness of the injury the victim sustained. The incident took place outside a busy pub on a Saturday night, so someone must have witnessed it.

"If you believe you may have witnessed this incident or have any information which could help our investigation I would urge you to contact me as soon as possible via the non-emergency number on 0845 33 00 222, quoting crime reference E1/09/764.
