A town's mayor is demanding that parking restrictions are enforced in streets around a station as part of a planning application for a car park.
Cllr Hugh Harper, mayor of Arlesey, says town councillors will discuss at their meeting tonight (Tuesday) the planning application received by Mid Beds District Council.
A local company wants to build a car park with 397 spaces next to the station but Cllr Harper says without restrictions in nearby streets it would remain empty.
"We will insist on parking restrictions in nearby roads being part of the planning permission otherwise nobody will use it," said Cllr Harper.
"Commuters are trying to save money now so unless there are restrictions they are not going to pay to park and the problems in streets near the station will roll on and on.
