A COUNCIL'S town centre buildings will be in darkness for one hour on the evening of Saturday, March 28, in a bid to "send a strong message that the local authority cares about the planet".
Stevenage Borough Council is supporting the World Wildlife Fund's Earth Hour, and will also be turning off the non-essential lights on the town clock for an hour from 8.30pm.
A spokesman for the council said: "Stevenage joins a long list of local authorities supporting Earth Hour, which aims to send a strong message that we care about people, wildlife and the planet, and want the world's leaders to take action to tackle climate change.
