REMARKABLE Comet country people are collecting MBEs from Buckingham Palace this week, as those named in the Queen's New Years Honours List receive their awards from her majesty.
This morning (Tuesday), Stevenage racing driver Lewis Hamilton was accompanied by his father Anthony, brother Nicholas and stepmother Linda to receive his award for becoming the youngest ever F1 world champ.
And on Thursday, Mick Furr, manager at Westmill Community Centre in Hitchin, will meet the Queen to receive an award for her work at the centre since the 1960s. She will be accompanied by her husband Gordon, daughter Mandy and centre chairman, Christine Cook.
Foster carers Robert and Caroline Rejdak, from Hexton, who have fostered over 100 children, will also receive an MBE for their dedication to children later this year.
