Darren Murphy has been cleared to play in Boro's FA Trophy semi-final second leg at Cambridge United on Monday.
Boro have appealed against the Irishman's dismissal and, as there is no time for the appeal to be heard before Monday's clash, the club have been told they are free to play the former Cork midfielder until a disciplinary panel reviews the incident on Tuesday.
Murphy was shown a straight red card for an alleged elbow on Jon Challinor in first half injury time but replays show the 23-year-old made little contact with the Cambridge midfielder.
