Boro boss Graham Westley goes in to tonight's pre-season friendly against Chelmsford City looking for his side to establish "winning mentality" for the coming season.

While this evening's clash will provide a chance for Boro's squad to edge further down the road to match fitness ahead of the league campaign, Westley wants his troops to use the opportunity get back in the winning habit.

"We are going to try and get into that winning mentality straightaway," Westley told The Comet. "It's not necessarily a matter of getting game time because they've all had some of that on the training ground.

"I want to see them get back to the winning ways we saw for the second half of last season. Chelmsford away will be a difficult proposition for us and a good early test."

The Boro squad have been working overtime at the club's training ground in an effort to gain fitness in preparation for the Blue Square Premier kick-off on August 8 against Tamworth.

And Westley said he has been impressed with his squad's attitude despite some players picking up some minor knocks along the way.

"Pre-season training has been going really well," added the Boro chief. "They have been putting a tremendous amount of effort in. A few have been picking up a few niggles and strains along the way which is probably what you want.

"If they weren't picking those up then you probably aren't working them hard enough.

"We've started where we left off in terms of our application. We had a very good end to last season and that has carried itself into the training.

"The new lads have fitted in seamlessly. It obviously helps that they all know certain players from their times together at other clubs.
