A Year 7 pupil at Knights Templar in Baldock is being kept at home after a parent called the school on Tuesday morning to say their child had developed the symptoms.
Headteacher Andrew Pickering said parents, teachers and pupils have been informed and they are monitoring the situation.
Another suspected case has developed at the Herts County Council offices on
Gunnelswood Road in Stevenage. An employee at Farnham House, which deals with adult care and children, schools and families, is off work.
A spokesman at County Hall said staff had been alerted and they were awaiting the results of tests.
