A WOMAN is in a serious condition in hospital after being rescued from her burning home.
The woman, who is thought to be in her late 30s, is in a serious but stable condition in intensive care after fire crews pulled her out of her Hitchin house in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Four fire crews from Hitchin and Stevenage were scrambled just after 2.30am to the blaze on Redhill Road, where they found both floors of a house filled with smoke.
Ambulance crews from Letchworth treated the woman at the scene before taking her to Lister Hospital.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
