Two road traffic collisions brought the A1(M) in Stevenage to a crawl this morning.
Ambulance crews from Letchworth and Stevenage were scrambled to the southbound carriageway between junctions 7 and 6 shortly before 11am.
Five vehicles were involved in the first crash just south of junction 7.
Ambulance service spokesman Gary Sanderson said: "The first incident blocked the road and luckily no one was injured. The second incident was approximately 100 yards behind the original incident, and again, no one was injured.
