A WOMAN trying to bring a dash of festive cheer to her street has hit out at Scrooges who tore down her garden Christmas tree.
Lin Hopcraft was trying to brighten up Little Hyde in Stevenage when she put an illuminated tree out in her front garden along with lights on her house.
But she was shocked when a neighbour came round on Saturday night to tell her half the tree had been thrown into their garden.
"It's so upsetting. It's the first time I'd put a Christmas tree up," Lin said. "What upset me more was the last two Christmases have not been good for me. I was looking forward to this Christmas - then we get this.
"They just don't care anymore. They have had to come into my garden to do it. I don't know why they do these things.
