GRAHAM Westley said hat-trick star Mitchell Cole is "unplayable" at Blue Square Premier level when the Boro winger works as hard as he did in a 20 minute cameo against Eastbourne Borough on Tuesday evening.

Cole came on in the 71st minute against the Sports and scored three goals in a six minute spell as Boro ran riot in the second half of their 6-0 win.

Speaking after the game about Cole's performance, Westley said: "Mitch has got incredible talent, we all know that. If his work rate is like it was tonight it is as good as unplayable at this level.

"It's great to see him working that hard; it's great to see his ability getting a chance to really perform because of that work ethic and he was part of an excellent team performance."

Westley saw his side take a 1-0 lead courtesy of Mark Roberts into the break after a close first half at Priory Lane, but the second 45 minutes was a contrast with Boro outmuscling and outplaying their hosts in a swashbuckling blend of attacking football.

"We knew we would have a tough evening of it," Westley said.

"They haven't conceded a lot of goals at home this year and we knew they would have a lot of confidence from the result at the weekend (a 1-0 win over York City).

"We didn't underestimate the challenge. We came here expecting to work very hard but the players were awesome in their work rate and the results reflected that in the end."

David Bridges and Chris Beardsley were also on the scoresheet on Tuesday evening with Westley saying he was pleased for the latter whose all round energetic performance deserved a goal.

"(Chris Beardsley was) probably my man-of-the-match. I think Beardsley ran his socks off in the channels. You won't find a more honest player.

"He gives his all for the football team and it was great to see him get a goal because so often his work as a front player doesn't end in goals so it was great to see him get a goal for his efforts."

The win over Eastbourne saw Boro keep a clean sheet for the second game in succession after a run of five matches in which they conceded a goal a game.

After spending much of the season on the bench centre-back Mark Albrighton was drafted into the line-up for the 1-0 win over Wrexham where he was the best player on the pitch and was just as good at Eastbourne.

"The back four as a unit was very solid," Westley said.

"They were all decisive in the challenge, giving away no silly free kicks, organising themselves as a unit and very dominant against their attack.
