STEVENAGE Borough's position at the top of the Blue Square Premier was short-lived after they lost six points on Monday following Chester City's decision not to appeal their expulsion from the league.
Graham Westley's men went top after beating Crawley Town 2-0 on Saturday but having already beaten Chester twice this season when the Blues' results were expunged on Monday Boro lost the six points they had won.
Oxford United, who had beaten Chester in their only encounter with the North West side so far this season, lost just three points and as a result leapfrogged Boro to the top of the Blue Square Premier.
Oxford now lead the division by a point from Boro although they have lost one of their two games in hand.
Cambridge United and Tamworth also lost six points as a result of Chester's expulsion while Luton Town lost just two as they were only able to draw twice with the strugglers in their two encounters this season.
