THOSE who braved the heavy showers and cool temperatures were certainly warmed by the welcome they got at the Bedfordshire Festival of Home, Garden and Food at Shuttleworth at the weekend.
Over 3,500 people visited the show, that was jointly sponsored by Archant, publishers of your award-winning Comet, and Sainsbury's, that saw over 100 stalls selling a vast variety of foods from cheeses to meats as well as drinks and savouries including fresh bread and sauces.
"The attendance was down on last year but I put this down to the weather and the economic climate," said show organiser Phil Gooden, owner of the Bird of Prey Centre at Shuttleworth that also attracted many visitors during the weekend.
"We had 110 different traders and there were no complaints from them. Overall the show went very well."
The next event at Shuttleworth is the Bedfordshire Show on July 10/11.
"The show promises to be biggest we have ever staged here with the major attraction this year being an international horse jumping competition," said Mr Gooden, who is one of the show's organisers.
