Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll (15)
AMBITIOUS biopic of the hugely gifted Ian Dury, polio-suffering punk-funk poet frontman of the late 70s genre-defying band, The Blockheads.
After years on the pub circuit Dury forms The Blockheads and rapidly receives critical and commercial success, but this puts pressures on family and friends who become increasingly isolated from the flamboyant, troubled yet loveable artist as he battles his own demons.
Andy Serkis, who played Gollum in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings, puts in a fabulously uncanny performance as the eccentric star, whose music defined a generation.
