NORTH East Herts MP Oliver Heald is putting his weight behind a campaign that will hopefully raise 5,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Mr Heald will be launching the appeal for cash organised by staff at Sainsbury’s in Third Avenue in Letchworth GC on Friday afternoon.
Staff will kick off their fundraising campaign this weekend and during the coming year will be organising bag packs, car washes, coffee mornings, fashion shows and other events to reach their cash target.
Later this month staff will also be supporting a special concert at Wilbury School, Letchworth GC.
All the cash raised will help fund more Macmillan nurses and other health professionals, as well as more practical, emotional and financial assistance for people living with cancer and their families.
Macmillan Cancer Support is currently funding posts in North and East Hertfordshire, including Macmillan nurses and healthcare professionals based at the Lister Hospital and a dedicated community team.
Carla Poole, the fundraising manager for Macmillan Cancer Support in Hertfordshire, said: “It is fantastic that staff and customers have chosen to support Macmillan and help make a difference to people’s lives.
“The money will really make a difference to posts and services we are currently funding in the local area and help Macmillan reach and improve the lives of every single person affected by cancer.”
