CHILDREN in Comet country have been spreading a council’s recycling message by having their artwork displayed on freighters.
Stevenage pupils were asked to send in poster designs explaining that Stevenage Borough Council will have alternative weekly collections for refuse from November, as well as emphasise the importance of recycling.
Four girls from Camps Hill Primary School scooped the prizes with Holly Brown and Shannon O’Sullivan, both aged nine, joint winners and nine-year-old Emily Thomas and Emily Maguire, aged eight, as runners up.
Cllr John Gardner, deputy leader of the council, presented the prizes to the winners at Stevenage’s Cavendish Road depot.
He said: “These posters are really striking and will certainly help us get across the message on recycling and alternative collections.
“We are confident that these new arrangements will significantly increase our recycling rates in Stevenage.”
