A council wants to know what services residents value the most as funding is slashed.
Stevenage Borough Council is asking townsfolk to tell councillors what services they should be concentrated on and ideas for saving money at a series of neighbourhood forums next month.
The authority estimates it will need to save more than 3m over the next three years after the Government announced its Comprehensive Spending Review which targets public sector finances.
Council leader Sharon Taylor said: “This is an opportunity for us to outline our current situation and to get feedback from people as to what they think. “Everybody knows that these are difficult times for local authorities and we have some tough choices to make. I do hope that people will take this opportunity to come along to these forum meetings and give us their views on what areas we should be concentrating on.”
The forums will be held at:
Chells Manor: St Hugh and St John Church, Nov 2, 1pm
Shephall, Bandley Hill and Poplars: Poplars Community Centre, Nov 2, 7pm
Old Town, Symonds Green, Woodfield: Bunyan Baptist Church, Nov 3, 7pm
St Nicholas, Martins Wood: Oval Centre, Nov 8, 7pm
Broadwater: Walpole Court, Nov 9, 2pm
Bedwell, Pin Green: Bedwell Community Centre, Nov 9, 7pm
Town Square ‘road show’: Dec 11, 10am to 1pm.
You can also have your say on the council’s Facebook and twitter pages.
