Boro look to get back to winning ways with trip to Adams Park

Wycombe Wanderers v Stevenage – preview

Saturday, March 12

Recent form

Wycombe find themselves third in League 2 as they approach the so-called business end of the season, but like Boro their recent form has been patchy.

They won 1-0 at strugglers Barnet on Tuesday evening but before that had drawn 2-2 with Aldershot and lost 4-1 to Chesterfield.

Stevenage travel to Wycombe on the back of two defeats in a week after losing at Torquay United last Saturday and at home to Hereford United on Tuesday evening.

Before that Boro had won three games in a row including impressive victories on the road at Port Vale and Crewe Alexandra.

Last time they met

Wycombe became the first visiting side in the league to win at the Lamex Stadium this season when they beat Boro 2-0 back in October.

Kevin Betsy and Stuart Beavon were the scorers.

Team news

Defender Dave Winfield has completed a three-game suspension and will be available for selection and should he start then one of either Leon Johnson or Chris Westwood is likely to make way.

A knee injury continues to keep fellow defender Andy Sandell on the sidelines.

Skipper Mark Roberts returns for Boro after serving a one-match ban on Tuesday evening, but Jon Ashton limped out of that game with a leg injury and could miss out on Saturday. If Ashton does miss the game, Michael Bostwick is likely to deputise at centre-back with Luke Foster taking his place in midfield.

Elsewhere, Joel Byrom and Taiwo Atieno are expected back from injury next week and striker Ben May could be recalled as a lone striker if Graham Westley decides to flood the midfield with Foster, David Bridges and John Mousinho.
