A Stevenage man accused of causing the death of a 10-year-old girl by careless driving pleaded not guilty to the charge this morning (Wednesday).
Kevin Ruder, 44, of Keller Close is charged with causing the death of Yesmine Moumen at the crossing by the ASDA superstore on Monkswood Way in Stevenage in December last year. The former Bedwell School pupil died later in Lister Hospital from her injuries.
Ruder spoke to confirm his name, address and date of birth before entering the plea at Stevenage Magistrates Court.
The court declined jurisdiction to try the case and the two parties will reconvene at the court on September 2 for committal proceedings to Crown Court.
A court order granting anonymity to Yesmine was overturned by the court after representations by this paper on grounds that it had no legal basis.
