GIRLS at Princess Helena College celebrated a great haul of results, with 65 per cent of all exams passed with A*, A and B grades.

Maths students were the success of the day, with 100 per cent of all grades an A*-C, and all further maths results A*-B.

Art students also did well, with 62 per cent of girls achieving an A* or A grade.

Other successes included 100 per cent A*-B results in English Literature, Media Studies, French, Government and Politics, and Music.

Headmistress at the Preston-based college, Jo-Anne Duncan, said: “I am delighted by all the excellent grades achieved and wish to congratulate the girls and staff on their hard work.

“I am particularly proud of those girls who achieved straight A* and A grades in the three, four or five exams they took.”

Head girl Amy Keast, who achieved an A* in Art and Design, is off to Reading University to study Graphic Communication and deputy head girl Yi Yi Liu is taking up her place to study Mathematics, after achieving two A*s and two A grades.

Rachel Poston, deputy head academic, said: “We are very pleased that on average girls have achieved more than one grader higher in each subject than their CAT scores predicted, which shows significant value added.

“In fact, 50 per cent of girls achieved at least two grades higher in two or more of their subjects, which is a fantastic result.”
