Boro looking to make it three consecutive home victories

Stevenage v Notts County

Saturday, September 17 - match preview

STEVENAGE go into Saturday’s game hoping to make it three consecutive wins at home, following victories against Sheffield Wednesday (5-1) and Rochdale (4-2). Boro have climbed into the play-off places after their thrashing of Wednesday on Tuesday evening, a result the Owls boss Gary Megson said was the worst moment of his footballing career.

Notts County are on the same number of points as Boro (13) after two wins and a draw from their last three matches.

If nothing else, fans can expect to see goals on Saturday as the visitor’s last goalless draw was some 32 games ago, at Southampton, while Boro have scored more goals at home than any other League 1 team so far this season (11).

Team news:

John Mousinho limped out of Tuesday night’s 5-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday with what seemed to be a hamstring injury and so is a doubt for tomorrow’s clash. Don Cowan, whose international clearance was granted following his move from Longford Town last week, is also a doubt due to a knee injury.

Jon Harley is likely to feature for Notts County after seeing a move to Melbourne Victory fall through this week. Elsewhere, Alan Sheehan is suspended after picking up a booking in the club’s 1-1 draw with Exeter City while Stephen Hunt is sidelined with an ankle injury. Lee Hughes is expected to start up front.

Stat of the day: Stevenage have had fewer shots off target (28) than any other team in League 1 so far this season.
