A new care home has been ‘topped off’, marking a major milestone in its completion.

After 11 months of building work, the home on Lonsdale Road in Stevenage had the last tile on its roof fitted by Maria Ball, chief executive of Quantum Care. The not-for-profit company will run the Herts County Council owned home for dementia sufferers and those with physical disabilities when it opens in June.

Mrs Ball said it was an exciting partnership project that will provide a high standard of accommodation for current residents of Newhaven care home in Knebworth and Bulwer Lytton House in Stevenage who will move in on completion.

A competition to name the new home among future staff and residents was won by Bulwer Lytton House administrator Janet Holmes who chose Jubilee Court to mark the Queen’s diamond jubilee which takes place in June.
