SNOWDROPS, those heralds of spring, were out in abundance in a village famed for them - until real snow hit this week.
Due to the very mild winter, the delicate white flowers have made an early appearance at Benington Lordship.
The display in the dry moat and around the manor house and castle ruins which occur naturally can be seen alongside planted winter flowering varieties such as hellebore and galanthus.
The gardens are open to the public for the snowdrop display from February 4 to 26.
