A DINOSAUR was among the attractions as an annual town centre event kicked off Letchworth Festival on Saturday.

This year’s Letchworth Street Fest saw Tiny the dinosaur, along with music, dance, street theatre and comedy, bring in the crowds.

Another addition was the later running of the music stage, with entertainment in Letchworth GC town centre from 11am to 10pm.

“The Love Letchworth team has pulled out all the stops to ensure that Street Fest 2012 was as exciting and vibrant as previous years,” said town centre manager Lee Boswell.

“The inclusion of Tiny the dinosaur, Bruce Airhead and the later running of the music stage has added real value and a different dimension to this year’s programme. The weather wasn’t as kind as in previous years but the crowds thoroughly enjoyed the day and we’re all really keen to repeat the success again next year.”

The day was part of Letchworth Festival, with more than 100 events taking place through to Sunday, June 24. Among the highlights this weekend will be the Town Celebration Day with activities in the town centre on Saturday from 8am to 3pm. There is also two open gardens events on Saturday and Sunday, with more than 20 gardens on display in the town. For a full list of events visit www.letchworthfestival.org
