Work will begin on resurfacing Stevenage railway station platforms on Monday, lasting until the end of the year.
Block paving will be installed on all platforms between 8pm and 6am seven days a week, station owner First Capital Connect said. The timings are intended to minimise disruption to passengers.
The slip-resistant tactile slabs will help people with visual impairments identify the edge of the platform, while redundant concrete plinths will be removed to create more space, a spokesman said.
Further improvements, including converting the goods lift for passenger use and refurbishing the ticket hall, remain under development, but are expected to be completed by summer 2013.
