They’ve been performing their particular brand of song and dance entertainment for more than 30 years, they’ve raised more than £100,000 for good causes in that time, and now Variety Express are coming down the tracks for 2014.

The popular group’s show this year takes the title The Best Of British and you can catch it on a four-day run which kicks off at St Francis College in Letchworth next Wednesday, October 29.

Tickets are £9 for adults with £7 concessions, and you can reserve yours on 0333 666 3366 or online at www.varietyexpress.org.uk.

The company draws its members from North Herts and Central Beds, and rehearses in Baldock each Wednesday evening as the annual October show comes together.

Produced by Lindsey Head, the enthusiastic team serves up a tried and tested mixture of song, dance and comedy in crowd-pleasing combination.

Member Diane Humberstone said: “We have many loyal supporters who come back year after year to support us and who really enjoy a great night out.

“I love the fact that we are all amateur performers who like to entertain with our main purpose being to raise much-needed funds for local charities.”

The charities which benefit from the annual show are decided by a secret vote among the members, and last year £1,000 was donated to both Hitchin PHAB and the Stevenage-based Herts Women’s Centre.

This year a Bedford school for children with learning difficulties and an autism support charity are the chosen good causes.
