It’s a candlelight cracker – John Webster’s macabre Elizabethan masterpiece The Duchess of Malfi is the first presentation in a new season of Shakespeare’s Globe On Screen, which brings ‘as live’ screenings of classic stage drama to local cinemas, offering audiences a ticket to the best seat in the house.
The production is the first to be filmed entirely by candlelight and stars Gemma Arterton as the Duchess.
The fifth season of Globe screenings starts at 6.45pm on Thursday at Letchworth’s Broadway Cinema – visit www.broadway-cinema.com for ticket details.
But if you’re not able to catch this week’s show don’t despair – another screening has been scheduled for Monday, March 9 at Cineworld in Stevenage. Visit www.cineworld.co.uk for more details.
