There’s a feast of music on offer just down the road when Hertford plays host to Rock At The Castle next Sunday.

The August 2 extravaganza has been put together by Hertford Town Council with a whole host of acts due to perform between 12.30pm and 7.30pm.

The free music festival held in the grounds of Hertford Castle is now in its 11th year, and attracts thousands of people every summer.

The main stage features music from Tokyo Taboo, Neil Gowans, Ghost of Samantha and Exit Black among others, while Michael King, Beth Hedges and Robert Powell are among those playing on the acoustic stage.

The range of acts which auditioned for slots was so impressive that organisers have added an additional stage this year, so as well as the main stage and the acoustic stage there will now be an acoustic garden stage in the Castle Moat Garden for music with a folkie feel.

Michael is booked in for a slot on that stage, too, along with local favourites including Cara Beard and Lola May Dolce.

Yoga massages and meditation stalls will also be in that area for those who want to chill out and listen to something softer than what’s being served up on the main rock stage. There’s also a DJ tent with house music pumping out from its island base.

Although it’s a free event, representatives from Mind in Mid Herts will be on the gates and a voluntary donation of £2 is suggested.
