Owls and water voles don’t usually make for comfortable couples, but they’ll be joined together at tomorrow night’s meeting of the Hitchin and Letchworth local group of the RSPB bird protection charity.
Photographer Russell Savory will be talking about the wildlife of Stow Maries aerodrome with a focus on owls and how to go about photographing them without spending a fortune.
Water voles will also be on the agenda, and there will be a short film.
The Essex aerodrome has provided a rich source of material for a string of BBC nature programmes – video of the water has featured on Springwatch.
This evening at The Settlement in Nevells Road, Letchworth, starts at 7.30pm, and visitors (£2.50) are welcome.
