Talented young musicians are tuning up for a concert date at Hitchin’s Benslow Music on Tuesday night.

Friends of North Herts Music School present the North Herts Youth Jazz concert, billed as an autumn entertainment that features music bound to delight any jazz lover.

In this showcase for rising stars of the local music scene, which starts at 7.30pm, both jazz bands from North Herts Music School will play selections from across the form’s many genres.

The Big Band, featuring players aged 12 to 18, will be drawing on a rich and varied repertoire, and numbers on the setlist include Wade In the Water, San Lup and Absoludicrous.

Among those featuring on vocals is Izzy Doncaster, who will also be duetting with Tim Cranfield.

The Big Band’s junior counterpart Blast Off! will also be contributing with their take on jazz standard Blue Monk and a new piece which has been created just for them.

Blast Off! is made up of players aged 10 to 12 who are learning the art of jazz improvisation with great success.

Tickets will be available on the door at the Benslow Lane venue, adults pay £8 and children £5.

Concerts arranged by the Friends of North Herts Music School aim to raise money to buy new equipment, music and instruments.
