The team behind the monthly Unicorn ceilidh nights in Baldock started 2016 with a smash hit session.

More than 50 dancers were drawn to St Mary’s Church Hall in the town centre, but now the target is to attract a bigger crowd to the February date.

That will be held on Friday, February 26, when the music is provided by 3Sticks with Mary Panton calling.

3Sticks are fiddle player Jenny Newman, Andy Glass on guitar and bass, and Pete Hemsley on drums. Together they create atmospheric, rhythmically complex tunes that drag you to your feet.

Mary is billed as a rare combination of expert country dance caller and crowd psychologist.

Her knowledge of dance steps from the UK and beyond is based on decades of professional involvement and a true passion for her art.

The evening starts at 8pm with doors opening at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £10 for adults, £1 cheaper for seniors over 65, under 18s pay £6 and there’s a £7 rate for students and those without a wage. Find more at
