The singer who provided the soaring vocals for iconic hits by M People including Search For The Hero and went on to solo success with the chart-topping Proud is on her way to Stevenage.

Heather Small: The Voice of M People will be at the town’s Gordon Craig complex on Saturday, February 20, playing in the concert hall from 8pm.

Manchester-based M People – the dance music specialists took their name from leader Mike Pickering – shifted more than 10 million albums worldwide during the 1990s, and hits like One Night In Heaven, Moving On Up and Sight For Sore Eyes are embedded in the musical memory of a generation.

The band reformed two years ago for a greatest hits tour to mark 20 years since the release of their award-wining album Elegant Slumming.

At the turn of the millennium Heather struck out on her own with the debut solo album Proud, from which the single of the same name became affiliated with the GB Olympics team and London’s successful bid to host the Games in 2012.

Heather and her band are taking the new touring show all over the country, dates in the UK, kicking off last night in Yorkshire and with dates in Milton Keynes, Northampton and Harlow all pencilled in if you can’t make the Stevenage show.

Tickets are £25 and you can get more information from the box office on 01438 363200 or visit www.gordon-craig.co.uk.
