Festivalgoers have sprung into action after Standon Calling revealed its headline acts for this summer, with ‘tier one’ tickets sold out within a week of the announcement – and in record time, too.

Brit award nominee Jess Glynne, Mercury Music Prize winners Suede and Milkshake star Kelis will all take to the main stage at Standon.

The three-day festival takes place on the Standon Lordship estate, in the countryside to the east of Stevenage, between Friday, July 29, to Sunday, July 31.

Jess – who has had five number-one singles in the UK and shot to fame as the vocalist on Clean Bandit’s chart-topper Rather Be – has already declared on Twitter that her Saturday night show is ‘gonna GO OFF!’

Other acts confirmed include The Hives, Everything Everything, Ghostpoet, Anna Calvi, Blossoms, The Thurston Moore Band, Goldie, Theo Parrish and Gold Panda.

The family-friendly festival has become renowned for offering a great platform for rising musicians to cut their teeth and over the years has hosted early performances from Florence + the Machine, Friendly Fires, Mumford and Sons, Bastille, London Grammar, Clean Bandit, The Maccabees and Paloma Faith.

Organisers have now also revealed this year’s festival theme will be Legend of the Lost Sea, while annual favourites such as the dog show and, of course, the festival’s own heated outdoor swimming pool, will form the backdrop to the event.

Although early bird and tier one tickets at £127 have sold out, the next three-day ticket tier of £137 is now on sale at standon-calling.com.
