An award-winning ballet production of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet takes a bow at Stevenage’s Gordon Craig Theatre on Monday night.

It’s a contemporary take on the familiar story featuring intense fighting and passionate duets, exquisite costumes and extraordinary video projections which all help create a world of danger and excitement where the two doomed young lovers are trapped by an age-old feud which divides their families.

Ballet Cymru is a showcase for a young group of dancers intent on pushing back the barriers of classical ballet.

They specialise in using powerful and timeless stories which challenge dancers to interpret some of the greatest characters in literature from a modern perspective.

The curtain goes up on Monday’s show at 7.45pm and tickets are priced from £16 to £21.50.
