Topping the comedy stage will be the award-winning and hilarious Russell Kane, with Angela Barnes, Jen Brister and Abandoman also on the bill, with more to be announced.

Speaking about the 2019 comedy programme, festival director and founder Alex Trenchard said: “Comedy brings people together and that’s even truer at a multi-generational festival like Standon Calling.

“One of the highlights of Standon last year was crying my eyes out with laughter in the comedy tent with my 10-year-old son.

“It was a wonderful bonding experience and we are really looking forward to what is a massive 2019 comedy bill!”

The boutique festival returns to the Hertfordshire countryside at Standon Lordship near Ware from Thursday, July 25 to Sunday, July 29.

Rag’n’Bone Man, Mercury Prize winners Wolf Alice and the legendary Nile Rodgers & CHIC will headline the main stage over the weekend.

Hosted on The Lawn – the epicentre of Standon Calling as the hub of talks, debates and alternative entertainment – an array of top-draw comedy names have been confirmed to add some side-splitting scenes to the festival weekend.

Comedy headliner Russell Kane needs no introduction after appearances on Live At The Apollo and Celebrity Juice.

“From his viral ‘Kaneings’ videos to sold-out shows around the globe, we can’t wait to see what he has in store for the festival,” said a Standon spokesman.

Also headlining is panel show favourite Angela Barnes, who will be bringing the razor-sharp comedic insights which have seen her become a Radio 4 and Mock The Week regular.

Joining Russell and Angela is the brilliant Jen Brister, who is looking forward to joining festival-goers in the fields of Hertfordshire.

She said: “I’m really looking forward to performing at Standon Calling this summer.

“It’s a fantastic festival with an incredible line-up and I cannot wait to see Nile Rodgers & CHIC in action!”

The comedy bill also includes the critically acclaimed Sarah Keyworth, Standon Calling mainstay Cally Beaton, Amy Gledhill and the brilliant Jacob Hawley, while the multi-talented freestyle flows of Abandoman will bring hip-hop hilarity to Hertfordshire.

Ahead of her performance, breaking talent Amy Gledhill said: “It will be my first time at Standon Calling and oh my, what an insane line-up!

“Somebody save me a space near the front for Echo & The Bunnymen and The Go! Team.”

The hotly praised line-up of comedy names join a phenomenal bill spread across Standon Lordship, boasting an eclectic mix of international superstars, talked about favourites and rising new talent.

Headlined by the iconic Nile Rodgers & CHIC, the Mercury Prize-winning Wolf Alice and Human singer Rag’n’Bone Man, the festival will also feature performances from the likes of Echo & The Bunnymen, IDLES, Lewis Capaldi, Kate Nash, The Big Moon, Band Of Skulls, The Go! Team, The Joy Formidable, Sea Girls, Erol Alkan, Simian Mobile Disco and Warmduscher.

Family entertainment will come from Dick & Dom and Mr Bloom & His Band.
