WHEN the postman brought a bundle of envelopes to Mary Hendry's door she thought there must have been a mistake.

But on closer inspection, her phone company, Redstone Telecom, had sent her 22 invoices when she was only meant to receive one.

If that wasn't enough she then received five more a few days later. All 27 were exactly the same. The amount involved was just £3.72.

The company blamed a computer error for the mistake.

Mrs Hendry, of Beverley Road, Stevenage, said: "At first I thought 'how silly'. It would have cost them £8.85 in postage to send all these invoices - that is more than the amount in the invoice. But then I saw the funny side and it made me smile.
